A spot in the Sweet 16 awaits the winner of Saturday night’s game between top-seeded Kansas (28-7) and No. 8 Seton Hall (22-11) at Wichita’s Intrust Bank Arena. The Jayhawks and Pirates haven’t squared off since an encounter at the Maui Invitational, in 2001. KU prevailed on that occasion and is 1-1 all-time versus Seton Hall.
In my pregame "Get to know Seton Hall" blog, I predicted KU 81-72 tonight. But as Virginia proved last night, all it takes is a long shooting slump to make any top team vulnerable.
Good atmosphere in the building. Both teams ran out of the locker room at the same time, so it got real loud.
If anybody is worried about players being loose, Svi Mykhailiuk just missed a between-the-legs dunk in the layup line.
For those counting at home, Vegas line closed with the Jayhawks as a 4.5-point favorite. Over/under set at 154.5.
If you missed it, KU starters: Devonte' Graham, Lagerald Vick, Malik Newman, Svi Mykhailiuk and Mitch Lightfoot.
Both sides seemed pretty loose in pregame. Who will throw the first punch in this one?
Seton Hall wins the tip and we are underway in Wichita...
Lightfoot with a great block at the rim on the first possession.
Vick drills a 3 and yells at midcourt. Yep, he's fired up.
Desi Rodriguez, Seton Hall's leading scorer, puts the Pirates on the board.
And there's Delgado crushing on the offensive glass. KU up 5-4.
