A Saturday matinee against a Big Ten opponent takes on an unexpected vibe for the No. 3-ranked Kansas basketball team. When the Jayhawks (8-1) welcome Nebraska (5-4) to Allen Fieldhouse, it will mark KU’s first game without sophomore forward Carlton Bragg, arrested early Friday morning for misdemeanor battery. Bragg, who had been playing a reserve role for Kansas of late, was averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds.
Obviously the biggest question for the Jayhawks today is how they look following Carlton Bragg's arrest and subsequent suspension. Will it have an effect on today's game? I don't think it will, but I'm sure everybody will be looking closely at KU's start in the first few minutes.
Among players on the court (not Bragg), who has the most to prove today? I'd like to see something positive from Udoka Azubuike. He had a big impact when he first entered the starting lineup but has been pretty quiet lately. Especially with Bragg out, KU will need him more than ever to play well.
Nebraska starters, as expected: Webster, Watson, McVeigh, Jacobson and Morrow.
Pre-game starting lineup introductions underway.
Jayhawks start 2-for-2 from the floor. Graham and Azubuike with buckets.
Lucas replaces Azubuike two minutes into today's game. Udoka with a foul.
Full-court press for the Jayhawks.
Huskers shooting 3-4 from the field. Morrow leads with 4 points.
Graham misses on a transition three from the corner. Feels like the first time they've missed that shot this month.
Jackson grabs an offensive rebound on his own miss, dishes an assist to Mason for a triple.
