With only five days left until the start of the regular season, the No. 3-ranked Kansas basketball team gets its final tuneup against Emporia State tonight. After being outrebounded against Washburn in their first exhibition contest, I'm sure that will be a major emphasis for the Jayhawks tonight.
Any KU player that people will be watching for tonight? I think Carlton Bragg probably has the most to prove after a lackluster first exhibition game -- especially if he can help with rebounding.
Tonight's starting lineup: Frank Mason, Devonte Graham, Lagerald Vick, Josh Jackson and Landen Lucas.
Interesting to see Jayhawks starting small. But that's a credit to Lagerald Vick and his preparation over the summer to earn more playing time.
Jayhakws back on the court now. I think it'll be a big night for Udoka Azubuike, along with Bragg that I mentioned earlier. He has to prove he can be trusted on defense for more than a few minutes without fouling.
For tonight's opponent: Emporia State has four seniors in the starting lineup. Picked 11th in MIAA preseason poll.
Quick layup for Landen Lucas, just 10 seconds into this one.
Josh Jackson scores much faster tonight than first exhibition game, knocking down a jumper. KU up 4-0
Frank Mason bucket and the foul. Jayhawks not taking this exhibition lightly so far.
Josh Jackson posts up, but shot too strong on turnaround jumper. Will be interesting if he plays in the post more during four-guard lineup or it's a 1-4 setup.
Lagerald Vick with a strong drive to the rim that earns him 2 free throw attempts. KU up 9-8 with 16:13 left in 1st half.
Jayhawks force a shot clock violation on last defensive possession, surely a nice way to go into media timeout.
On the floor: Svi, Bragg, Udoka, Jackson and Graham.
Bragg and Udoka not on the same page on last hi-lo pass. Plus they ran into each other going for a rebound.
Mason and Vick onto the floor, replacing Jackson and Graham.
