For the first time in just more than two weeks, the Kansas men’s basketball team returns to Allen Fieldhouse for its Big 12 home opener. The No. 10 Jayhawks (11-2 overall, 1-0 Big 12) look to avoid an early blemish in league play against No. 18 Texas Tech (12-1, 1-0).
For those holding out hope, Billy Preston and Silvio De Sousa are NOT warming up. Not playing tonight.
Should be an interesting clash of styles tonight. Tech has the best defense in the Big 12 and really knows how to force turnovers. KU doesn't turn it over much and has a great offense.
As expected, Marcus Garrett earns a starting nod for the 2nd straight game.
TTU starters: Justin Gray, Niem Stevenson, Keenan Evans, Zach Smith and Norense Odiase.
"The Hunt is On" Pre-game hype video for the Big 12 home opener, which counted 13 highlights for KU's title streak.
TTU uses the entire shot clock to set up a Justin Gray triple. 3-0 Red Raiders.
Udoka fouled on his first touch in the paint. Headed to the FT line.
Azubuike misses both FTs. I don't think he's had many trips this year where he's missed two in a row. Then he picks up a foul on defense.
Second foul on the ultra athletic Zach Smith.
Justin Gray has all 8 of Tech's points.
Three touches, three fouls against Azubuike.
Svi swishes a 3. First field goal for KU.
Off the bench, Culver swishes a jumper. Self upset about a non call.
It's the Gray and Culver show so far. TTU up 10.
