On the 12th game of the season, the Kansas basketball schedule-makers gave to the Jayhawks: one showdown at UNLV — KU’s first true road game of the season. Bill Self’s 10-1 team, ranked No. 3 in the nation, takes on the 7-5 Runnin’ Rebels. In a different kind of season-first, the Jayhawks will play without freshman center Udoka Azubuike, who earlier this week suffered a season-ending wrist injury.
What's the number one thing that everyone will be looking for tonight (assuming you're lucky enough to have CBSSN and can watch)? I think the obvious answer is Landen Lucas and Carlton Bragg's play after the season-ending injury to Udoka Azubuike, but I'm going to go with Lagerald Vick. He was replaced in the starting lineup and Self noted that he was pretty flat in the first half against Davidson. KU will obviously be using a lot of four-guard sets in the upcoming weeks and months and the Jayhawks will need Vick to fill a big role.
Bill Self on the pregame radio show said Udoka injured his wrist trying to play inside against Dwight Coleby.
UNLV starters, as expected: Kris Clyburn, Uche Ofoegbu, Tyrell Green, Jalen Poyser and Cheickna Dembele. Christian Jones expected to be available off of the bench after missing the last 3 games.
