The two winningest programs in college basketball history meet up for the SEC-Big 12 Challenge Saturday evening, when No. 2 Kansas faces No. 4 Kentucky at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats, 17-3 this season, have 2,222 wins all-time, while the Jayhawks, at 18-2 this year, own 2,204. KU will try and topple UK on its home floor with a shorter bench than usual, due to the indefinite suspension of sophomore forward Carlton Bragg Jr.
How does everyone think the Carlton Bragg suspension will affect KU today?
So what's the storyline that everyone will be watching for tonight? Obviously, the easy answer is Landen Lucas because he's the only frontcourt player that has proven he's capable of playing major minutes. But I'll go with Frank Mason. He was a little off against West Virginia (no free throw attempts) and he will have the tough task of trying to slow down the speedy De'Aaron Fox.
Shaka Smart almost lost it. Ran out to half court to talk with refs on close call in final minute of Texas/Georgia game.
Speaking of main events for tonight. Reportedly famous boxing announcer Michael Buffer will do the pregame introductions.
Kentucky starting lineup: De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Isaiah Briscoe, Wenyen Gabriel and Bam Adebayo.
Obviously, along with Bragg suspended, a huge key will be which lineup is most effective: KU's four-guard lineup or Kentucky's traditional lineup. Josh Jackson will have to shoot well and the Jayhawks will have to be at their best rebounding to force UK to go small.
Shocking that ESPN will make a big deal out of every single action made by Grayson Allen. *sarcasm font*
Just about game time. On a scale of 1-10, how nervous are all the KU fans out there that Jayhawks will have a two-game losing streak after tonight?
